Arthur Henry Jones ’34

ART JONES, a Vermont State senator and member of the boards of the Univ. of Vermont, Vermont Educational TV, and the Vermont Lung Assn., died Sept. 26, 1992, at his home in Morgan, Vt. A devoted Princetonian and classmate, Art was the selfdescribed perennial secretary of the Princeton Alumni Assn. of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont (PAANEK, called Panic), and each summer he enjoyed minireunions with Dottie and Howie Engler and Anne and Chuck Reed.

In WWII Art, a colonel, served on the staffs of Gen. Omar Bradley in Europe and of Gen. Courtney Hodges in the Philippines. He won the Legion of Merit and five battle stars. "With peace," he wrote later, "I attained the level of V.P. with Avco Mfg. But that life was not for me." So he and Arline (Thieme), whom he married in 1942 and who predeceased him earlier this year, moved to rural Vermont.
