Aubrey M. Haines ’41

He had prepared for Princeton at Phillips Exeter Academy. At Princeton he majored in economics and joined ROTC, the Skeet Club, and Tower Club. He roomed with Jack Bagby, Bill Milner, and George McNeill.

He was called up to Army service in August 1941, and after training, was sent overseas, spending a year and a half in the European theater, earning a Bronze Star. He was separated in March 1946 as a captain, but later was elevated to major.

Mac then entered the insurance brokerage business, with an office in Flemington, N.J., only to be reactivated by the Army at the time of our 10th reunion. He served in Korea and Vietnam, winning another Bronze Star. He stayed in the Army until retiring as lieutenant colonel in 1966, when he moved to the Exeter area.

Mac is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joanne Whitman Haines; his son, Geoffrey; and his daughter, Nancy MacDonald.
