B. Hobart F. Cale ’27

B. F. HOBART CALE died Apr. 3, 1993, at his home in Lenox, Mass., at the age of 88.

"Hogie" was born in Springfield, Mo., in 1904, and came to Princeton, in 1923, from St. Louis Country Day School. At Princeton, he was manager of the freshman baseball team and a member of Cottage Club. He graduated in classics with Phi Beta Kappa honors. For four years, he roomed in Henry Hall with "Rem" La Beaurne, two doors down the hall from Curtin Winsor.

A stockbroker, Hogic was a partner in Colgate Hoyt & Co. in N.Y.C., and later worked for Janney Montgomery Scott in Darien, Conn., where he lived from 1936 to 1990. He was a director of the U.S. Pipe and Foundry Company, He retired in 1980.

In WWII, be served in the Pentagon as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Service Forces.

In 1934, he married Marion Davis, who survives him along with two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Thompson and Mrs. Marion Kalkstein, a brother Dutro '37, and six grandchildren.

The Class will miss Hogie's shy, winsome smile, and we extend our warm sympathy to Marion and his children.
