BEN BARTON of Wilbraham, Mass. died Sept. 18, 1990, after a long battle with cancer. He joined our Class in his sophomore year in 1946, having transferred from St. Lawrence College, where he was in the V12 program. He served in the Navy in the Pacific between 1943 and 1946. Ben prepared at Deerfield Academy, At Princeton, he roomed with Mac Talley in Pyne Hall and majored in economics. He received his degree in 1949. He was a member of Charter Club and was active on the business board of TIGER magazine.

Following graduation, Ben attended the Cornell Medical College, obtaining his M.D. degree in 1953. After completing his residency in New York City, Ben settled in the Longmeadow, Mass. area where he practiced obstetrics and gynecology. He was a member of the Hamden District and Massachusetts Medical Societies.

Ben handled his illness as he handled his life full speed ahead - and his courage and optimism were an inspiration to his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Chase, whom he married in 1977, three daughters by a prior marriage, a stepson, a stepdaughter, three grandchildren, and a brother, Charles '41, To each of them the Class extends its deepest sympathies.
