Dean was a valued and active member of our class. While at Princeton he majored in art and archaeology, was active in Triangle, and played in the Nassau Jazz Band as drummer. He dined at Cap and Gown. His senior roommates included Wiese, Mulcare, Adams, Dailey, Alyea, Zweiback, and Scurria.

Upon graduation he attended Columbia Business School and earned his MBA in 1959. In 1958 he married Susan Riggs. Children Jennifer and Frederick soon followed.

Dean began as an analyst in the bond department of Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association in New York City, living in Short Hills, N.J. In 1968, he joined Goldman Sachs in the corporate finance department, working on private financings. He and his family lived on White Deer Lane in New Vernon, N.J.

Dean loved the Class of 1957 and was a very active member. He attended the fifth reunion, organized New Jersey dinners, and served on the Alumni Council committees that oversaw alumni awards, University reunions, academic travel programs, and the Service of Remembrance. Dean also served as class president. His friends were numerous, and he strongly supported the Classmate Fund of 1957.

His dear wife, Susan, predeceased him. To his children, Jenny and Fred ’85, and six grandchildren, the class sends its deep condolences. He is missed.
