Bernard Penn-Gaskell MacGrann ’24

Body

PENN MACGRANN died unexpectedly in Philadelphia on Sept. 30, 1989. He prepared for Princeton at Haverford and Mercersburg. After graduation, he studied law at Pennsylvania. He then practiced law in Lancaster for several years before becoming a professor of military law at St. Joseph's College. Later, he joined the staff of the Franklin Inst., from which he retired. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Philadelphia and the St. Anthony Club.

His father was a member of the Class of 1896, and a grandfather of his belonged to the Class of 1849. A direct descendant of William Penn, he is survived by his stepdaughter Sally Stevenson Hughes, the wife of John B. Hughes '47, and his granddaughter Alison B. Hughes '79. To them we extend our sympathy.
