Bjorn Andreas Andersen ’50

Body

B. J. ANDERSEN DIED at his home in Acworth, Ga., Aug. 19, 1991, three years after the death of his beloved Jeane. B. J. had dated Jeane throughout college, and they were married shortly after graduation. He was born in N.Y.C. on Sept. 18, 1925, the year after his father came to this country from Norway, B.J. graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ, and served three years in the Army, ending as a tank commander in the Battle of the Bulge. He lived in Witherspoon with Mad Myers and was a member of Terrace Club.

B.J. was universally liked and respected and was looked up to by many of his younger classmates in chemical engineering as a sort of adviser, always helpful when the arcane instructions of certain professors needed interpretation. After receiving a masters degree at R.P.I., in 1951, he worked in research and project management for U. S. Rubber, Celanese, and WestPoint Pepperell. His father, also a chemical engineer and an inventor, had worked at Celanese, for many years.

He is survived by daughters Ellen and Karen Andrews, his son Bjorn F., and his brother Erik '54. To all of them we extend ()or deepest sympathy.
