Bono died March 8, 2026, in Bridgehampton, N.Y.

He came to Princeton from his hometown high school in Roslyn, N.Y. He was then known as Paul Herbert Ostrow. He played freshman soccer, supported several key charitable causes on campus, joined Tower, was named a University Scholar, majored in the Woodrow Wilson School, and wrote his thesis, “Life: The Making of the Technocratic Culture.”

Sometime before our 25th reunion, Paul changed his name. We do not know the circumstances. We do know he left a widow and daughter, Nancy Walter-Yvertes and Juliette, respectively, and we extend our sympathies to them.
