Bradley C. Downing ’19

Body

BRADLEY C. "CASEY" DOWNING, D.O., died May 28, 1994, in Downers Grove, Ill., of congestive heart failure. He was 94. For all of the 75 years that followed his graduation, Casey valued his association with Princeton, attended his fair share of Reunions, and served as class secretary and class agent in his later years.

After graduation, Casey served in the Army Medical Corps in WWI. Then, he attended the Chicago College of Osteopathy and taught histology there, before opening a practice in Chicago's Loop. He retired from his city practice after 40 years, but continued to practice from his home until he was 93.

The success Casey had in his profession extended to all aspects of his life. He was well respected for his watercolor painting, his bridge-playing, his piano-playing, his poetry recitation, and his storytelling. With all of these interests, he still managed to find time to belong to the Rotary Club of Chicago, the American Legion, the S.A.R., and the Downers Grove Artists' Guild.

Casey is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joelle; son Bradley C. Jr., D.O.; daughters Carey Myers and Kathy; and seven grandchildren. He was a man for all seasons who will be missed by his patients, his friends, his family, and all the readers of the Class of 'l9's notes.
