BUEL WEARE, who performed Outstanding service to the Class and to Princeton as our V.P. for Annual Giving for two decades, was born Dec. 29, 1902, and grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He transferred to Princeton in sophomore year, from the Univ. of Wisconsin. He was a member of the Speakers Assn., Clio, and Phi Beta Kappa, graduating with highest honors in English.

After obtaining an M.B.A. front Harvard in 1927, he started a business career, but later transferred to journalism, joining the Des Moines REGISTER. He served in the European theater as a colonel in WWII, and upon his return to the U.S. joined the N.Y. HERALD TRIBUNE as manager of news services. He subsequently became publisher of the Paris HERALD TRIBUNE. He finished his career as publisher of the CONGRESSIONAL QUARIENLY SERVICE, in Washington, D.C.

Buel was an ardent fox hunter, residing in Glenwood Howard County, Md., until retiring to the Fair Haven Retirement Home in nearby Sykesville. Incapacitated as a result of a severe auto accident, he died Aug. 29, 1992.

Buel was married to Nora Baldwin, who predeceased him. The Class sends its condolences to Buel's family.
