Burnett Gordon Britcher ’39

GORDON DIED June 23, 1991, at his home in Syracuse. At the time of his death he was still active as treasurer of Syracuse Pottery Inc., the firm he had been with since 1945. Born in Syracuse, Gordon entered Princeton from Deerfield, majored in chemistry, and went on to Yale to work toward his doctorate, but he gave it up after two years, realizing it was not the profession he wanted. He then entered the Army and, after O.C.S., was assigned to a branch of the Chief of' Staff's office in the War Dept., with responsibility for processing and distribution of classified signal traffic. At war's end, leaving the Army as a major, he joined Syracuse Pottery, where he was elected treasurer. He subsequently rose to president and held that position until in recent years he began to ease off. By the time Of Our 45th reunion, he reported that he was semiretired. But he remained active as V.P. and eventually wound up as treasurer again,

Gordon never married. He is survived by a cousin James Butler.
