Shortly thereafter he joined Stryker, Tams & Gill in Newark, N.J., as a trial lawyer. He became managing partner in 1978. He also served as a municipal judge from 1961 until 1980.

Burt loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating. He was an excellent golfer. He enjoyed opera and played piano, clarinet, and saxophone. He was devoted to the welfare of his family.

Burt is survived by his two daughters, Georgianna Doully Catlett and Susan Reinman; his sons, Burtis S. and Wayne J.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The class sends sympathy to them.
