Edward Weber, professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, died Jan. 31, 2018, at age 87.

Weber earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaigne in 1952 and 1953, respectively. In 1958, he earned a Ph.D. from Princeton in economics and sociology.

He was the founding dean of the Lubar School of Business at UWM. He retired in 1996. Weber was active in the public life of the university and the city of Milwaukee.

A dedicated Catholic, Weber was ordained a permanent deacon in 1981 and served at his local church and at the UWM Catholic Newman Center for many years.

Weber was predeceased by his wife of more than 65 years, Suzanne. He is survived by two sons and four grandchildren.
