JOHN HOFER died Oct. 9, 1992, of cancer at the age of 58. Born in Plainfield, N.J., John came to Princeton from the Hill School. At Princeton ' John majored in biology and served as president of Charter C In b.

Following graduation, John pursued his M.B.A. and M.S. degrees at N.Y.U. Graduate School of Business Administration, as well as medical studies at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. John lived for a time in St. Thomas, U.S.V.1., where he served as managing editor of K & S Advertising. For the past 22 years, he resided in Southborough, Mass., where he was a past member of the town's personnel board. John was founder and owner of The Boston Resume Writers and, as a professional writer, he contributed to periodicals in New England, New York, and the Caribbean. His crossword puzzles appeared in the NEW YORK TIMES, andno surprise to those who remember John's dry withis awardwinning humor writings have appeared in book form.

John is survived by his widow; Kathleen; by his three sons, C. J. Montgomery Hofer III, Nicholas A. R. Hofer, and Christian M. R. Hofer; and by his sister, Judith Hersey, wife of Peter Hersey '56. The class extends its condolences to them all.
