C. Roark O'Connell ’53

Body

Death came swiftly to Rocky O'Connell when he died of a heart attack Apr. 1, 1995, while enjoying TV at his Mountain Lakes, N.J., home. Born in Portchester, N.Y., Rocky attended Frederick E. Bellows H.S. At Princeton, he played freshman football, sang in the freshman .md varsity glee clubs, and majored in engineering. A member of Cannon Club, Rocky roomed senior year with Don Marshall, Bill Osgood, and Dean Pringle. Four days after graduation, he married Patricia Michele McCabe.

After two years in the Navy and six with General Electric, Rocky joined Potter Instrument Co. In 1970, he moved to Mountain Lakes and soon became v.p. of Roure DuPont, Inc., a fragrance manufacturer. Retiring five years ago, Rocky started his own industrial-engineering consulting business.

His hobbies were sailing, computers, travel, music, sports, watching P.U. football on fall Saturdays, and singing in his church choir on Sundays.

Surviving our friend are his loving wife, Pat; son Kevin (Northeastern '82); daughter Kathleen (Vermont '85); and grandchildren Chloe and Bob. The family asks that those wishing to express sympathy may contribute to "Class of '53 Memorial Scholarship Fund," c/o Asst. Class Treasurer Frederick Crispin, 3 Cedarbrook Terr., Princeron, NJ 08540.
