Carl Victor Schieren ’34

Body

CARL "LEFTY" SCHIEREN, retired president of the Carl V. Schieren Corp., died at Hilton Head Island Sept. 2, 1993, after a lengthy illness. According to a nearby resident, Carl had "been under wraps for the last flew years." Carl's company, headquartered in New Jersey, specializes in fine accessories for country living or, as he once wrote, "works with nice people who make nice merchandise that sells to nice stores all over the U.S.A."

In recent years, senior golf kept Lefty busy, as both a competitor (Gasparilla '48 and other tournaments) and an administrator. Senior golf tournaments, in fact, took the place for him of school (Choate) and college reunions.

Surviving are Carl's wife of 54 years, Caroline .Cappy" Noyes Schieren (Smith '37), a great gal; a son, Carl Jr. '62, who as a Nassoon entertained us often at the '34 Barn; a daughter, Carole Almond; and two grandsons. To them we offer out sincere sympathies.
