Chandler Withington ’33

CHAN WITHINGTON, who lived in Riverside, Conn., died there Nov. 9, 1993. Chan was born July 4, 1912, in N.Y.C. fie prepared at New York Military Academy. In college, he roomed with Bob Pflaumer and Fred Bates.

Chan, who had studied chemical engineering, spent a number of years in the paint and varnish industry, mainly with D. H.Litter Co., where he was technical director and sales manager. In 1949, he organized his own firm, C. Withington Co., manufacturers' representatives, in Long Island City. He retired shortly before his death.

He was active in community affairs in Riverside, and in golf and sailing.

On Apr. 4, 1936, Chan married Dorothy Egglestone, who died in 1980. They had two daughters, Patricia Breese and Ann, who survive. In 1981, he married Frances Hawkes, who survives, as do his stepson, Burton Bolton, four grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. The class extends its sympathy to all the family.
