Charles B. Cosse ’60

Body

Chuck came to Princeton from Sewanhaka High School in Bellerose, N.Y. He majored in economics, dined at Wilson Lodge, and married Margarette Westcott during his senior year. After graduation they moved to Seattle, where he became an economist for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone. He began his career in investments in 1965, first in apartment buildings, then in securities brokerage, and finally in investment management with his own firm.

In 1968, Charles and Peggy both earned pilot’s licenses, bought a Cessna aircraft, and began many years of domestic and international flight. They took time in 1974 to circumnavigate the world, accompanied by 5-year-old son Charlie. Over time, Cosse International Securities became an NASD firm, and Chuck became active in several investment and aviation organizations and the Seattle Opera board.

He enjoyed flying to at least 21 countries, salt and freshwater boating, and snow and water skiing. Especially attracted to the Arctic, he flew to every region of it except Siberia. He also returned to his childhood farmboy days in 1997, buying a commercial apple, pear, and cherry farm in eastern Washington state.

Chuck died Oct. 4, 2024, at home. He is survived by his second wife, Sandy; five children; and six grandchildren. We send condolences to them all.
