Charles Boileau Bertolet ’23

Body

WE LOST our "Doctor Chink" on June 28, 1989. He was born in Athol, Penn., on June 12, 1901, and grew up in Reading, Penn., where he qualified for Princeton at his hometown high school. At Princeton, he belonged to Whig Hall and Gateway Club and was a serious student, determined to quality for medical school. He became Dr. Bertolet in June 1927, when he graduated from Jefferson Medical College.

That same June, Dorothy Bechtel became Mrs. Bertolet in Valley Forge, Penn. The Bertolets settled in Reading, where Chink became a distinguished physician. Over the years his hobbies were fishing and gardening, but his prime interests were his family and grandchildren. A loyal Tiger, he brought his grandchildren to our 50th reunion. Before and during WWII, Dr. Bertolet was a selective-service examiner.

Charles's widow, Dorothy, lives at 39 N. 23rd St., Mt. Penn, PA 19606. He is also survived by their two daughters, Phoebe Hopkins and Beulah Fehr. We of the Old Guard Class of 1923 extend our sympathy to Chink's family and share their pride in his life of service and devotion.
