Charles C. Shenk ’30

Body

CHICK SHENK died Mar. 10, 1992, in the Western Reserve Convalescent Horne, in Erie, Penn. He was born in Erie and spent most of his life there. Chick and his twin brother, At, now deceased, entered Princeton together, having prepared at Lawrenceville. During their four years as undergraduates, the Shenk brothers roomed with Marsh Sprague, who along with other members of the Class had difficulty telling them apart. Their dual nature did not end with physical appearance. Both Shenks were members of the varsity swimming team and of Cloister inn, Chick being president of Cloister his senior year. Chick went to work for the Continental Rubber Works in Erie after graduation and remained with that company until he retired in 1973. His specialty was sales and marketing.

Golf was Chick's principal hobby until a back injury, in 1965, forced him off the links. Sailing was another great interest, and he enjoyed the weekly races in Presque Isle Bay in a Cal 20.

Chick's first wife, Marion, died in 1975. In 1978 he married Elsie Sweet, who (tied just a few short weeks after Chick. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. David (Virginia) Mock; a son, Charles Jr.; and two grandchildren. TO them we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
