Charles D. Rounds *41

Rounds received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1940. In 1941, he earned a one-year technical degree, the Ch.E., also in chemical engineering, from Princeton.

 

He moved to Wilmington, Del., and worked for DuPont as a chemical engineer for more than 40 years. Most of his career was at the Chambers Works, involved with the Zepel and Teflon products.

 

After retiring from DuPont in 1981, Rounds was active in his community as a long-term volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and served as a guide at Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington. He also had a long-term involvement with his church. An ardent traveler, he and his wife, Barbara, visited China, the Soviet Union, and numerous locations in Europe.

 

Rounds was predeceased by Barbara, his wife of 57 years, in 2009. He is survived by their three children.
