Charlie died Feb. 13, 2018, in Grasonville, Md.

Charlie came to Princeton from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington. He majored in history, joined Prospect and the Westminster Society, and went directly to Harvard Law School, graduating cum laude in 1951. He then spent two years in the Army with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, and on his release he joined a Washington law firm, becoming a partner in 1957. In 1983 he moved his own practice to Annapolis, specializing in federal and antitrust law, and covered many landmark cases in the U.S. Supreme Court.

In our 50th yearbook, Charlie commented on the great part his Princeton education played in exposing him “to the liberal arts/humanities courses, before getting into the quite different environment of the law.” He enjoyed boating, fishing, and vanilla ice cream.

Charlie is survived by his sons, Chip and Mark, and one grandson, Charles IV. To them, we offer our sympathy and condolences.
