Charles G. Webb ’22

THE HONORABLE Charles G. Webb, former senior judge in Tioga County (Penn.), died at the age of 93, in Wellsboro, on May 5, 1992.

Ho served two terms as senior judge, after being appointed in 1951 to fill a vacancy, He was a county district attorney prior to becoming a judge, and after his retirement, in 1972, he joined a private law firm that became known as Owlett, Webb & Cox. judge Webb was deemed by his peers to be fair but firm, and he was held in great esteem byall of his associates.

Charles was born in Wellsboro, and, except for college, and law school at the Univ. of Pennsylvania, lived there for his entire life. Known at Princeton as "Spider," he was a member of Whig Hall and Cloister Inn. His first wife died in 1976, and he is survived by Marion, whom he married in 1983; one sister, Josephine; and two stepsons. Charles was a lifelong Presbyterian and remained active in local public affairs. He was a dedicated history buff and served as president of the Tioga County Historical Society and the State Assn. of Historical Groups, before being named to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission when it was founded in 1945
