Charles Henry Pritchard ’48

Body

Charlie Pritchard grew up in Chatham, N.J., where he graduated from Chatham High School. He joined us by way of the Marine Corps, which sent him to OCS at Princeton.

He majored in economics, was a member of Charter, and graduated in June 1948. He died of natural causes Dec. 27, 2009, in Fort Walton, Fla. He lived out his final years at Niceville, Fla.

Charlie did not keep in touch with Princeton or our class. However, his career and innovations in the reinsurance industry were chronicled with some regularity in the financial press. It was not all smooth sailing. He was known in his earlier years in the equestrian world as his horses achieved success in the horse shows of the Bernardsville/

Central New Jersey fox-hunting area. In later years he found diversions in boating and in real estate.

Charlie is survived by his second wife, Dian; and his sons, Charlie, Bob, Ed, and Jeff. His daughter Susan predeceased him.
