Charles Hoffman Wilson ’42

CHUCK DIED May 9, 1991, after a long, courageous battle withcancer, at his home in Southport, Conn. At the time of his death he was a retired business executive, most recently V.P. at Philip Morris, U.S.A., General Products Division. Although he retired in 1976, Chuck continued his long association with the Turner Construction Co. as a director until 1990.

Chuck came to Princeton from Exeter, was the manager of Triangle Club, and was a member of Charter Club. After graduation, he served in the field artillery during WWII in the European theater. After the war and before joining the Eversharp Razor Co. (which subsequently became the Schick Co.), he did graduate work at Columbia in business administration, He became V.P. and general manager of Eversharp's Canadian and International operations before joining Philip Morris in 1965. He moved up to president of American Safety Razor Co. and ultimately to V.P. of Philip Morris, U.S.A., General Products Division.

The class has lost another good man. As his son, Ransom, said: "He was affectionate, loyal, and supportive, always there when we needed him." Chuck was a caring and kindly family man, a consummate golfer, a dedicated Princetonian. He is survived by his wife, YsabelAngulo; his son Ransom C. '78, his grandson Charles Perry; his son by a former marriage, Charles Hoffman Jr.; two granddaughters; his sisterinlaw, Mrs. Robert C. Wilson Jr. '34; and his nephew, Robert C. Wilson III '80. To his family the class extends its deepest sympathies.
