Charles L. Galey ’45

Chick died Feb. 3, 2010.  

He prepared for Princeton at Hotchkiss, following in the footsteps of his brother, William ’38. At Princeton he joined the Student World Federalists, the Republican Club, the Catholic Club, and Cannon. His studies were interrupted for service with the Army Air Corps, and he saw combat in Saipan and Iwo Jima before returning to Princeton to earn a bachelor’s degree in history in 1949.  

After the war, Chick continued his interest in flying and in raising horses, operating the Bar 13 Ranch in Big Horn, Wyo., for several years before entering real-estate brokerage. Chick married Frances “Frickie” Mifflin and they raised two children who continued their parents’ interests — son Frank becoming a veterinarian, and their daughter, Miff Koltiska, becoming a professional horse trainer and the NCAA roping champion while at college in Texas.  

After Frickie’s death in 1994, Chick traveled to visit with his children and to enjoy warm climates in the winter. He is survived by his son and daughter and two grandchildren, to whom the class expresses sympathy.
