Body

LEE AUSTIN died Aug. 19, 1992, in Barnstable, Mass., where he had lived since retirement in 1958. Lee prepared at the Port Chester High School. At Princeton he rowed on the freshman and varsity crews. He was captain in his senior year. He was engaged in investment banking for the first 17 years after graduation, with Guaranty, Edward B. Smith, and finally Mellon Securities in Pittsburgh. He joined Jones & Laughlin Steel in 1942 as treasurer and rose to the position of president and vicechairman by the time of his retirement. He then served for three years as a steel consultant to the World Bank. He was very active in civic affairs in both Pittsburgh and Cape Cod. He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, the former Louise Bradbury Wilson; by two sons, Charles Lee Jr. and John Bradbury; and by a granddaughter. To them we extend our sympathy.
