Charlie died Aug. 24, 2017, in Danvers, Mass.

At Princeton he majored in politics and was a member of Prospect Club. He left Princeton for the war and later worked for Morgan Stanley in New York City, then went on to the National City Bank. He married Sylvia Louria June 1, 1948. They had been married for 52 years when she died.

In 1995 they moved to Arlington, Va., to help care for their grandson, Matt. Charlie became active in the Arlington Seniors Association, becoming its president. He sang in the Arlington-Belmont Chorale and had many hobbies, including gardening, photography, stamps, and slide shows about his travels with Sylvia. In 2008 he discovered his “inner bard” at the age of 85. With help from friends and professionals, he published three volumes of poetry over 10 years. A week before his passing he completed a poetic memoir of his life’s travels, The Best of Times. He had a passion for history and nature.

He is survived by his partner, Teresa King; children Jacqueline, Carol, and Norman; two sons-in-law; one sister-in-law; and six nephews and nieces.
