CHAUNCEY HUTCHINS, beloved of all, as his wife of almost 54 years standing, Polly, puts it, died of pneumonia Dec. 23, 1991, after a long illness, He also left three children and four grandchildren, including Cyrus Reed '87. His father was James Hutchins '09. His daughter Helen married Robert C. Reed Jr. '58, now deceased.

Chauncey participated in football, crew, and tennis at St, Mark's. After Princeton he was in the real estate business outside of Chicago, before entering the Army as a private. He was discharged 40 months later as a platoon technical sergeant, having spent most of his time in the European Theater of operations. On July 7, 1944, he was shot in the leg at Normandy, receiving a Purple Heart and also the highly prized Combat Infantry Badge.

Thereafter Chauncey was a stockbroker with the investment firm of Hutchins & Co. in Chicago, and by 1952 he had become a partner and V.P. His hobbies were birdshooting and fishing.

The Class sends its deep condolences to Polly and the family.
