Chester E McSpadden ’26

Body

CHET MCSPADDEN, former advertising executive and always a loyal Tiger, died at his home in Glenview Place, Naples, Fla., Mar. 2, 1994. Chet was 90 and had not been well for several years before he was claimed by a coronary attack.

After graduation, Chet went into advertising, and before he retired in 1956, he was an account executive in Fuller & Smith & Ross in N.Y.C. He married Janet Fulton Chase June 25, 1928, and together they were active in community affairs in Montclair, N.J., for many years. Among other responsibilities, Chet was a trustee of Mountainside Hospital and was on the board of Montclair Red Cross.

Chet and Janet were deeply interested in students at Princeton and supported student internships and research in the Woodrow Wilson School. They established the Chester F. McSpadden '26 Scholarship, which presently has an annual income in excess of $9,000. Chet had many friends in the class, who remember him as a quiet but strong supporter of Princeton and the class.

Chet is survived by Janet and by their son, Peter and their daughter, Linda Nelson, and by six grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. To all, we extend our deep sympathy.
