Chet died Oct. 4, 2015, in Tulsa, Okla., after a lengthy illness.

He came to Princeton after 18 months of Army service and joined Key and Seal, Whig-Clio, and the campus chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Chet graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and started working for Toledo Edison in July 1949. He worked for the company in various capacities and was its director of corporate planning at the time of his retirement in 1987, when Toledo Edison began its merger with Cleveland Electric Illuminating.

Chet relocated to Highlands Ranch, Colo., for several years, and then moved to Tulsa. He was an active and faithful member of his Catholic church, serving on the Parish Council and as an usher, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Chet married Phyllis Tanber, whom he described as the “love of his life.” She predeceased him, but Chet is survived by their children, Patricia, Douglas, and Teresa; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The class extends its sympathy to them all.
