Clinton Orth Mayer Jr. ’19

CLINT MAYER died on Nov. 18, 1989. He was born Apr. 29, 1898, in Philadelphia and prepared at Central High School. He left Princeton in the spring of 1918 to enter the service as a second lieutenant, F.A.U.S.A. In 1922, he became self-employed as a specialist in certain stocks on the N.Y. Stock Exchange. He later developed an interest in arbitrage and investment securities. His office and home were in N.Y.C.

In WWII, he served as a major in the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska and Dayton, Ohio. In 1929, he married Ann Louise Greil. They had two children, Jane Greil Mayer (Mrs. Eric Eisner, Smith '53) and Clinton O. III '56. Clint was, most recently, a member of the N.Y.S.E. with Drexel Burham Lambert, and he went to the office every day until his death. In extracurricular activities, after ten years of involvement, he became the president of the Home for Aged and Infirm Hebrews of New York, which takes care of about 1,000 elderly people. For the last eight years, he was treasurer of the class. The class extends its deeply felt sympathy to Clint's daughter and son and his entire family.
