Courtenay Chinn Davis died Jan. 26, 1995, in Horse Creek, Wyo. He was born Apr. 5, 1901, in Chicago to Elisha Thomas and Amy Perry Davis.

After the death of his parents, he entered Culver Military Academy, where he received a reserve com­mission in the Army. At Princeton, he majored in economics and was a member of Charter Club and the Triangle Club. He earned his law degree from Northwestern Univ. in 1927 and practiced law in Chicago until I 94 1.

In 1925, he married Lucy Patten; they moved to Kenilworth, Ill., where he served for many years as village clerk and as a trustee, During the Depres­sion, he headed a division of the Chicago-area Emergency Welfare Fund. He was a member of the Chicago Farmers and served a term as its secretary. He helped organize a number of mutual funds and was a direct0r of their management organization. In the fall of 1941, he purchased the Y Cross Ranch in Horse Creek, which he operated until his death.

He is survived by his widow, Lucy; daughter Amy; son Alfred P. '5l and his wife, Marilyn; and four grandchildren, Courtenay Robinson, Grant C., Scott M., and Amy P.
