In 1935, 11-year-old Craig heard Mussolini speak at the Piazza Venezia in Rome, then spent three months skiing in Austria and learned the then-new Arlberg skiing technique. At home, he and his family made it a habit to ski the slopes of Sugar Hill, N.H.; Stowe, Vt.; and Mont-Tremblant, Canada. As an Air Force doctor in Germany, he formed the Air Force ski team to compete against the Army ski team.

An avid sportsman as well as a dedicated orthopedic surgeon, Craig served as a medical officer in the 3rd Marine Division during the Korean War. On retirement from his active practice, he became a well-respected expert in the field of injured-worker evaluations.

In 1958, three weeks after their first date, Craig married Turid Elster-Jordan. They divorced in 1968, remained best friends, and remarried in 1998. She died five months before his death March 2, 2015. Survivors include daughters Ellen Rosenberg and Hilary Davis, and five grandchildren. To them all, ’46 extends gratitude for this long and well-lived life.
