JIM ADAMS died Nov. 17, 1992, at Eastern Maine Medical Center, following open heart surgery. He was a graduate of Exeter and joined the class after army service in WWII. He roomed with Dave Aubrey, Bill Winters, and Art Humphreys prior to his marriage in Sept. 1948, to Erica Wille. An engineering major, Jim worked for WPRB as a staff announcer and belonged to Key & Seal.

After graduation, Jim served again in the army, and was awarded the Air Medal in Korea, where from Sept. 1952Oct. 1953, he was a light aircraft and helicopter pilot with the Second Infantry Division. He later received his masters degree in mathematics from Rutgers, having also taken summer courses at Bowdoin. He taught both math and chemistry at the secondary school level and also worked in several businesses in Maine. He was an accomplished, classically trained musician. His wife, Erica, died in 1984. Survivors include his fiancee, Madeline Dorsey; three daughters, Sheridan Long, Pamela Welner, and Karin Browning; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Daphne Hanna and Barbara; and his stepmother, Helen. To each of them, the class extends its deepest sympathy.
