David E. Browning Jr. ’57

At Princeton he majored in history and joined Campus Club. His senior-year roommates were Bruce Bringgold, Phil Sullivan, John McKenna, Jim Shea, Clive Chandler, and Julian Clark. After graduation, David attended Baylor College of Medicine, graduating in 1961. He completed his residency at Baylor.  

He served as a flight surgeon in the Navy from 1962 to 1965. Subsequently, he moved to Tulsa, becoming board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology.  

David served on the Oklahoma State Board of Medical License and Supervision, was a past president of Tulsa County Medical Society, and was a member of the Oklahoma State Medical Association. Always interested in the arts, he served on the board of trustees of the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa.  

David is survived by his mother, LaMena Browning; his wife, Bette Browning; a daughter, Lynnley Browning; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Valerie and Jared and Mary; his brothers, Phil and Walter; and eight grandchildren. The class extends its sincere condolences to all his family.
