DAVID GREGG FARRELLY, retired professor of political science at the U.C.L.A., succumbed to cancer on Sept. 24, 1993. He was 79. He taught at U.C.L.A. from 1948-76. Dr. Farrelly received his bachelor's from Springfield College, during his junior year he studied at the London School of Economics. He earned his master's at the Univ. of Pittsburgh, and obtained his Ph.D. in political science from Princeton in 1949. His years at Princeton were interrupted by military service from 1943-46 in Army Intelligence under General MacArthur, attaining the rank of captain. Dr. Farrelly was a Fulbright Fellow in 1955-56 and 1959-60 in Italy. In 1963, he was appointed the first director of the Univ. of California's Education Abroad Center in Padua, Italy, serving until 1965. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Wallace. He is survived by his second wife, DeEtta; his two children, Wallace and Jill; nine step-children; and 11 grandchildren, to whom we extend our condolences.
