Dave Gray died Christmas Day 2010 of natural causes in Stowe, Vt. He was 83.

Dave grew up in New Canaan, Conn., and was a graduate of Deerfield. At Princeton he was a member of Cap and Gown and graduated with highest honors in biology. He earned a medical degrere from Harvard Medical School.

He met his wife, Dorothy, in New York City at Roosevelt Hospital during his residency and they moved to Maine and then to Vermont in 1957. Together they founded Ledgemere Morgan Horse Farm in Shelburne. Dave worked for Vermont’s state health department, where he helped establish Vermont’s original ambulance service and was in charge of nursing homes for the state. He was an avid sailor and had a summer residence in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Dave is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 55 years; four daughters, Nancy, Carol, Susan, and Sara; and seven grandchildren.
