David Moist Serotkin ’60
DAVID MOIST SEROTKIN, at the age of 54, died Jan. 11, 1993, at his home in Mason, Mich. He is survived by a son, David; his mother, Dorothea; two sisters, Nancy and Nora; and a brother, Jonathan. After Princeton, David graduated from the Univ. of Michigan Law School. He practiced law in Mt. Clemens and in Lansing, Mich. He was active in Michigan State politics for more than three decades, having served several terms in the Michigan State Legislature and Senate. He was also executive director of the Michigan Victims Alliance, a nonprofit organization to help victims of violent crimes.
At Princeton, David worked hard for WPRB as a sportscaster, and did his own discjockey show for four years. He also worked on the PRINCETON TIGER magazine and was a member of Campus Club. He majored in history and wrote his thesis on "The Image of Father Abraham," one of Benjamin Franklin's personae in THE WAY TO WEALTH. He graduated cum laude. He was also a graduate of the Wooster School, in Danbury, Conn. In Mount Clemens, Mich., he joined the law firm of Matthews, Nark, and Spier, and he was active with the Macom County Bar Assn. and was regional chairman of the Young Lawyers Section of the state bar. He was first elected to the Michigan State House in 1967 and remained in politics and law thereafter. In 1985, he was appointed director of the Senate Democratic Staff. His dedication to public service, to his family and to his Princeton classmates will be missed. The Class of 1960 extends its condolences to his family.
