David P. Meese ’32

Body

MEESE died Aug. 30, 1992, in Pompano Beach, Fla., where he had moved in 1971. He left Princeton after our sophomore year, and two years later graduated from Wabash College.

After college Dave went to work for his family business Meese Inc., in Madison, Ind., and devoted his entire career to that organization, retiring as its president in 1971. While he lived in Madison, Dave was also involved in community affairs, serving as president of the local Rotary Club, chairman of the Community Fund Drive, director of the Jefferson County Community Council, and chairman of the local Boy Scout organization. He was also a former member of the vestry of Christ Episcopal Church in Madison, and in Pampano Beach he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Although he didn't graduate from Old Nassau, Dave retained an affection for Princeton all his life. He wrote in our 5th reunion year book that there is in Princeton "a spirit which cannot be found in any other school. It lives with you through the years."

Survivors include his widow, Mary Elizabeth; a son, David P. Jr.; two daughters, Nancy G. Meese and Elizabeth Vonderheide; two stepsons, Lesley and Richard Williams; 11 grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. The Class extends its sincere sympathy to all of them.
