DAVID REUBEN HILL died Nov. 7, 1992, from complications of lymphoma. He was 51 years old.

Originally in the Class of'63, Dave came to Princeton from Washburn H.S. in Minneapolis. After studying at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, Dave joined our class, majoring in politics. His thesis, "Citizen Participation in the 'West Side' Urban Renewal Project in New York City," prophesied a life dedicated to improving urban living. At the time of his death, Dave was an associate professor of urban and regional planning at the Univ. of Colorado, Denver. After Princeton, he obtained a master's in city and regional planning from the Univ. of North Carolina, and a Ph.D. in political science from the Univ. of Minnesota.

Dave's commitment to the urban condition ranged from accomplished academic writings to the streets of Prague, Budapest, Bangkok, and Beirut. Dave was recently published in the JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN PLANNING ASSN. and the JOURNAL OF PLANNING LITERATURE. Ever active and involved, Dave was a member of the Colorado Council on the Arts and Humanities and a consultant to the Colorado Historical Society.

He loved the outdoors, hiking and skiing, and music and traveling, He belonged to Cap & Gown, and his senior year lived in 111 Gauss with five roommates. In our 25threunion directory, he wrote, "At this point in my life, I am remembering Princeton for the important simplicity of the questions asked there. I am working on two tough ones now, What is human happiness, and how can cities be designed to make more of it?"

Dave is survived by his former wife, Diane S.; his daughter, Anna; his son, Jason David; a brother; three sisters; and his mother, Marion. To all the class extends its deepest sympathy.
