David Tarbell Buchanan Jr. ’53

Body

At Princeton, he belonged to the Republican Club and signed up with Elm.

He withdrew at the end of sophomore year, and from then on his whereabouts were uncertain.

John Corry, a freshman roommate who lives in Bronxville, had heard Dave was living there but had not seen him. Another roommate, Bill Taylor, had heard nothing. However, Hal Pilskaln, who had entered with Dave from Western Reserve Academy, remembered seeing his death notice last year in the school’s alumni magazine and thoughtfully suggested calling the director. She said Dave had graduated from Denison University and had two sons.

When contacted, elder son David III said his father retired as a senior vice president of Peoples Bank in 1990 and his second wife, Carol Russell Buchanan, had died in 2007. His first wife, Joan Miller Buchanan, mother of David III and Duncan, died in 2000. Son David said that his father also leaves a sister, Susan Buchanan. To them all, we extend sincere sympathy and regret that Dave did not keep in touch.
