David W. Kendall Jr. ’61

Born in Detroit, he came to Princeton from Andover. At Princeton, Dave majored in politics, took his meals at Charter Club, and sang with the Nassoons and the Savoyards. He was captain of the freshman sailing team. He left Princeton in the spring of 1960 and completed his undergraduate education at the University of Detroit.

Dave spent most of his career with Manulife Financial in Canada and lived in Toronto, where he sailed on Lake Ontario and was a member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. He retired at 55 and moved to Longboat Key, Fla., where he became an active member of the local civic and sailing communities. He was especially active at the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Sarasota. After his second marriage he re-

located to South Carolina. He will be remembered as a man of good humor, quick with a joke and a smile.

His wife of 38 years, Judy, died in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter Erica Reichling; son David III; stepchildren Dean Henger and Jill Wayne; six grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. With them, we mourn his passing.
