Diane K. Weeks ’75

Former class co-president Diane Weeks died Sept. 6, 2010, in Morristown, N.J., after a brief but devastating battle with ALS.  

Born in New York City, she graduated from Mary Louis Academy. At Princeton she was a dedicated “Europeanist” in the history department and a member of the women’s basketball team. She went on to earn a law degree from NYU School of Law in 1979.

Diane’s legal career included positions as enforcement attorney for the SEC; assistant commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection; assistant U.S. attorney, New Jersey District; and a lawyer in private practice. Democratic party chair in Mendham Township for many years, Diane ran twice for township committee and later for Morris County clerk, receiving 40 percent of the votes in a Republican stronghold.

Diane’s devotion to Princeton was exemplary. She served on the Alumni Council’s committees on Community Service and Service Awards, she recruited students through the regional Alumni Schools Com-
mittee, and volunteered for Career Services. Close to her heart was the Class of 1975’s summer internship program, established during her 2000-2005 term as co-president.  

Among Diane’s survivors are her brother, Kenneth Weeks, and her nieces, Sharon ’08 and Kelly ’12, of whom she was very proud.
