Don Carlysle Taylor ’50

DON DIED of bone cancer at age 63, on Sept. 4, 1992, at his home in Campo, Calif., where since 1976 he had operated East County Lumber & Feed Supply. With air inquisitive mind and a willingness to give of himself to help others, he was a true community leader. This was recognized in 1987, when he received the Citizen of the Year award from the Lake Morena/Campo Chamber of Commerce. He was fully involved with Kiwanis, and his primary interest was working with kids. Don and his wife, Jean, enjoyed a mutual love of history and the backcountry of San Diego County.

A native of Portland, Ore., Don came to Princeton from Seattle. He worked on THE DAILY PRINCETONIAN and WPRB. He was a member of T.G.I.T. Club and Key and Seal. He graduated with an A.B. in psychology.

After graduation Don entered the Army, serving in Korea and spending eight years on active duty. After 14

more years in the reserves, he retired as a major. In 1958 he earned an M.B.A. in economics at Siena College in New York. For many years he worked for Boeing in both domestic and international aircraft marketing.

Besides his widow, Jean, Don is survived by a daughter, Niki Spratley; three sons, Bryant, Eric, and Chris; and two grandchildren. To all of them, the Class extends its deepest sympathy.
