Don died Sept. 9, 2025, at home in Edmond, Okla.

He came to Princeton from Cleveland Heights High School, where he played basketball and was president of the National Honor Society. Don majored in psychology and joined Cap and Gown. A Harvard medical degree followed with a residency in urology at Mass General and two years in New Mexico with the U.S. Public Health Service. In 1967, he moved to Oklahoma City to start a children’s urology program. His appointments included professor of urology and pediatrics at the Oklahoma University College of Medicine, and chief of pediatric urology services at Children’s Hospital. He went on to serve as chief executive of the hospital and as a university regent.

Don cherished his time as a senior coach of the O.U. men’s basketball team from 1996 to 2004. He traveled with the team and was a fixture at the end of the bench. He also loved traveling and golfing at America’s great courses.

Don was predeceased by his first wife of 53 years, Margaret. He is survived by second wife, Liz Duncan; children Donna, Jeff (Arlene), Amy, and Tim (Maddie); and eight grandchildren.
