Donald E. Blacker ’64

DON BLACKER died at his home in Napa Valley, Calif., Apr. 14, 1991, the victim of a car accident. A memorial service was held on Apr. 24 at St. Ignacia Catholic Church on the campus of the Univ. of San Francisco. Classmates Doug Chance and Dixon Moorhead attended,

Don was born Apr. 27, 1942, in Pasadena and arrived at Princeton from San Marino High School along with classmates Tom Gates, Dixon Moorhead, and Jim Panos. He majored in history and graduated with honors. Don was a member of Cloister Inn and spent his spare time in Gilbert and Sullivan productions and augmenting his considerable artistic skills.

After graduation he went on to Stanford Law School, obtaining his J.D. in 1967. He was a Vista Volunteer for a year in Chicago, specializing in landlord and tenant disputes. Returning to Southern California, he joined the legal department of United California Bank and started purchasing real estate in Alamitos Bay.

Don moved to San Francisco in 1971, where became known for his precise contractual expertise and his successful real estate acumen, He won numerous awards in the Bay Area for his accomplished oil paintings, and he was well and affectionately known for his exceptional culinary talents. His inner strength and social conscience allowed him to work closely with the Most Holy Redeemer AIDS Support Group and the Shanti Project in San Francisco.

Don is survived by his sister, Toni, to whom we extend our sympathy. Don graced his many friends and close classmates with warmth, gentility, and generosity. We will miss him deeply.
