Donald H. Balleisen ’46

DON BALLEISEN DIED in Louisville, Ky., July 29, 1993. Don was always an active Princetonian, serving as class V.P., a member of the Alumni Council, chairman of the New York Schools Committee, president of the Princeton Assn. of Louisville, and regional Annual Giving chairman.

At Princeton, where he joined us after preparing at Poly Prep, Don played football, basketball, and track, and rowed with the 150s freshman year. He

served in the navy during the war in the chemical-warfare service and returned to the campus in 1946.

Don was assistant editor of the PRINCETON ENGINEER and an officer of Court Club.

After attending Harvard Law, Don joined a New York law firm as an associate and passed the New

York bar exam. He served as secretary and general counsel of Penick and Ford until 1969, when he was offered the opportunity to join the largest Louisville Firm. He was almost knocked out that year

by a bout of influenza, but revived quickly to become one of Louisville's outstanding citizens.

Don leaves his widow, Carolyn; his son Edward '87; and daughters Ellen and Wendy Sue Finger. To all his family, the class sends its sympathy and joins in remembering one of our outstanding class leaders, whose friendship will not soon be forgotten.
