Donald H. Marshall ’53

Body

Don, whom Tony Kohn good-naturedly called an “expatriate” because he spent much of his business career with B.F. Goodrich International in Australia, Brazil, Holland, New Zealand, and Venezuela and was director of international operations and licensing of PVC products for B.F. Goodrich Chemical, died of cancer July 9, 2011 in Pinehurst, N.C.

At Verona (N.J.) High School, Don was All-State in football, basketball, and track. He later played these sports at Princeton. He majored in chemical engineering, ate at Cannon, and worked at the Forrestal Center. He was with the Army Security Agency for two years.

At Pinehurst (N.C.) County Club he was president of the tennis association and treasurer of the men’s golfers. He made up for his time out of the United States by returning for the past 14 years with Dave Brown, Don Conover, Fred Crispin, Tony Kohn, Dean Pringle, Jim Saffery, Tom Voorhees, Bobby Wei and wives to a Princeton home football game and a festive weekend.

Don married Joan Disler in 1953, and they were blessed with three sons, Donald Jr., William, and Michael; and six grandchildren, all of whom survive him. He will be remembered for his athletic ability and for making friends through his generosity and kindness.
