DON DIED May 7, 1991, in Tucson, of complications from emphysema.

He was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Sewickley, Penn., and prepared for college at Lawrenceville. Don represented the seventh generation of his family to attend Princeton.

Don served in the Pacific as an Army corporal prior to entering Princeton, where he majored in mechanical engineering and was a member of Tiger Inn. Following Princeton he worked for the Homestead Valve Mfg. Co. in Coraopolis, Penn., as their chief engineer. He married Doris Leah Stump in 1951, and they had two children.

In 1975 Don retired as consulting engineer for Green Engineering in Sewickley to become coowner and manager of the Circle Z Ranch in Patagonia, Ariz. This is a resort ranch catering to roughly 40 guests who enjoy trail riding in the Arizona mountains and river valleys.

Don's lifetime hobby was gun collectinghe had over 1700 pieces and wrote occasional articles for gun buff magazines. He was devoted to the outdoor life and ranching.

In addition to his widow, Doris Don is survived by his son, Donald M. Simmons III; his daughter, Catherine M. Sayre; his sister, Amasa. B. Ford; and a grandson. We extend our most profound sympathies to each of them on the loss of this fine man.
